Detectives in Coleraine are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at a flat in Parker Avenue, Portrush, which they believe was started deliberately.

Police say the lives of nearby neighbours were put at risk by the "reckless actions" of the person or persons responsible for starting the fire.

No-one was present in the flat at the time of the incident, that occurred around 1.25am on Thursday morning.

An examination of the scene suggested the fire was started deliberately and is consequently being treated as arson.
