Motorcyclist killed in Co Down crash named as David Gerard Edwards

The motorcyclist who died following a two vehicle crash on the Lany Road in Moira on Saturday has been named as David Gerard Edwards. 

The 60-year-old was from the Agahlee area. 

His red Ducati bike collided with a JCB Telehandler at around 3.20pm in the afternoon and the victim passed away at the scene.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police can confirm that the man who died following the two vehicle road traffic collision at the Lany Road in Moira, was 60 year old David Gerard Edwards from the Agahlee area."

Sergeant Mackenzie added: “At around 3:20pm on Saturday afternoon, it was reported that a Yellow JCB telehandler vehicle and a Red Ducati motorbike were involved in the collision. The motorcyclist sadly passed away at the scene following the incident.

“Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or why may have dash-cam footage available, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1185 of 03/04/21.”
