A 39-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of Christopher “Chrissy” Burns in Co Armagh.

Mr Burns, 40, was originally from the Warrenpoint area in Co Down.

His body was found in the Cusher Green area of Mountnorris last Thursday morning with serious head and facial injuries.

Aaron McAnulty, also from Cusher Green, appeared before a district judge in Newry Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with the murder of Mr Burns.

The accused spoke briefly at the outset of the hearing to confirm his name, date of birth and that he understood the charge.

A PSNI detective sergeant told judge Eamonn King that she was aware of the facts and circumstances of the case and could connect McAnulty to the charge.

A lawyer representing the accused raised no issue with basis upon which the officer was connecting his client to the murder charge. He also said no application for bail would be made.

Judge King remanded McAnulty into custody to appear before Armagh Magistrates’ Court via videolink on September 30.
