Two bombs detonate in Lambeg sparking security alert

A security alert in continuing in the Lambeg area of Lisburn after two pipe bombs detonated outside a house there.

The bombs went off outside a property on Mill Street just after quarter past two this morning.

A third device, which failed to explode, was examined by the bomb squad and made safe.

A number of residents have been evacuated from their homes and are taking shelter in the city’s Island Centre.

A cordon is in place and members of the public are being asked to stay away from Mill Street - while enquiries continue.

There are no reports of any injuries at this time.
