The heartbroken mother of murder victim Glenn Quinn has made a fresh appeal to people in the town of Carrickfergus with information relating her son's death to come forward.

It comes as forensic scientists returned to the scene earlier today to conduct further examinations.

The 47-year-old was found dead at an apartment in the Ashleigh Park area on Saturday 4th January 2020.

It's believed Glenn was attacked whilst returning to his home on Friday 3rd January 2020 by a gang of violent men.

Police say they believe the group initially attacked him in the communal hallway of the flat, before forcing their way inside and launching a sustained and violent attack.

It is known Glenn was also previously assaulted outside his home on 29th December 2019.

In an emotional plea, his mother Ellen said she believes the people of Carrickfergus know who is responsible for his death.

"They all know who done this on Glenn and I want them to come forward with information to take these people off our streets.

"They have done enough damage to this town and I have lost my son.

"Justice would help us out."

The Crimestoppers charity is offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil McGuinness says people in the local area must have information about what happened.

“The investigation into the murder of Glenn Quinn is continuing and I would appeal to anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant they may think it is, to come forward to police.

“I believe that there are people living in Carrickfergus and the surrounding areas who know what happened to Glenn.

"Any information in relation to the investigation, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be the vital piece we need to bring whoever murdered Glenn before the courts to answer for their heinous actions.”

“Glenn’s heartbroken family need answers and deserve to see these barbaric killers put behind bars. We would ask those with information to come forward.

Those with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
