Belfast Pride 2017 took place last weekend.

Q Radio has learned that DUP MLA Jim Wells is calling for a hate crime charge against a woman who carried a sign insulting his party at Belfast Pride.

Mr Wells says he's also pushing for charges of grossly offensive behaviour and contravention of the Parades Commission regulations.

It is understood the placard which used a four-letter word was carried for part of the Pride march on Saturday but eventually confiscated by officials.

Mr Wells says he had to act on the offence:

Detective Inspector Lisa McCambridge from Ardmore station said, "We will examine the complaint to establish if any offence has been committed."
