LISTEN: No new COVID-19 related deaths in NI, for third day in a row.

For the third day running, no new COVID-19 related deaths have been announced here.

The death toll therefore remains at 537.

Reacting to the latest figures, said he was "reminded of a verse that said 'do not boast about tomorrow for you do not know what a day may bring'."

"Whilst that, along with the low number of daily reported cases, it is encouraging but I would urge people to remain mindful of the serious threat that this virus continues to present," he told Stormont's coronavirus briefing on Tuesday.

"And as always we must never forget that the coronavirus has claimed the lives of many hundreds of our citizens and for those families the grief still remains incredibly raw.

According to the latest figures, most of the deaths have been patients in Belfast who are aged 80 years or over.

There were 159 deaths recorded in Belfast, followed by 59 in the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon council area.

The fewest number of deaths (10) were recorded in the Fermanagh and Omagh council area.

Meanwhile, 358 of those who have died were aged 80 or over, and 154 were aged between 60-79.

This figure is lower than figures released last Friday the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA)

They reported 757 COVID-19 related deaths here up to 29th may.

NISRA figures relate to information entered on death certificates, completed by medical professionals.

They may or may not have previously tested positive for the virus.

Whereas. Department of Health figures are based on mainly hospital patients having previously tested positive for the virus.

Today's Department of Health figures also show that a total of 4,805 people have tested positive for Coronavirus in the region.

3 of these are newly diagnosed cases.

The data from the Department of Health dashboard also revealed 60 care homes currently have confirmed outbreaks of COVID-19.

33 care homes have suspected outbreaks and 79 have closed outbreaks of the virus.

The figures also provide detail of capacity in Northern Ireland's hospitals.

It revealed that out of Northern Ireland's 103 intensive care unit beds, only 6 are occupied by patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19.

Another 74 of the beds are taken up by non COVID-19 related patients, providing 23 spare ICU beds.
