Belfast city Councillor John Kyle has left the Progressive Unionist Party (PUP).
In a statement released on Twitter the PUP confirmed the party's deputy leader's resignation following a difference of opinion between Dr. Kyle and party policy.
It said:
"After recent media appearances by John he revealed he felt Unionism needed to ''stand back and look at the opportunities'' regarding the Northern Ireland Protocol".
PUP party leader Billy Hutchinson told Q Radio News that John leaves the party with his blessing.
