Police are searching for an armed man who attempted to rob a Belfast shop.
The man entered the Ormeau Road store armed with a knife shortly before 9pm on Friday night.
Detective Inspector Paul Rowland said;
“At approximately 8.55pm a male entered the convenience store armed with a knife. Detectives are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
“In particular, we are appealing for information regarding the suspect who is described as being approximately 5’7” tall, of skinny build, aged in his late 30’s, wearing a long grey hooded top, dark jeans and white trainers. He spoke with a local Belfast accent.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attempted robbery to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1394 of 09/09/16. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
