A 15 year old boy has been assaulted while riding on his bike in North Belfast yesterday evening, in what police are calling a 'hate crime.'
Inspector McCullough said, “Just after 6.35pm yesterday evening (Sunday 10 May 2020), police received a report that a 15 year old male, who had been cycling along the Limestone Road, was approached and attacked by a male dressed in grey, who was walking a boxer type dog.
“A number of other young people then joined the assault, with one hitting the 15 year old on the head causing a large cut, before throwing him from his bicycle, stealing it and also his iPhone 8.
“This was an appalling attack carried out in broad daylight on a single young male by a group of people. I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, which is also being treated as a hate crime, or who has seen the stolen, distinctive blue and white Carrera bicycle with black wheels, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1835 of 10 May 2020.”
