Will do for Derry as Patching strikes twice to ground high-flying Drogs

Candystripes celebrate Will Patching winner in Drogheda.

A free-kick double from Will Patching gave Derry City a 2-1 victory at Drogheda on Friday night.

The Drogs were on a six-game unbeaten run and eight points ahead of Derry in the League of Ireland standings. 

The Candystripes remain in eighth position but are now unbeaten in their last five matches going into the mid-season break.

Midfield star Patching is on loan from Dundalk and could be returning to his parent club. 

It's the final round of fixtures in the Danske Bank Premiership on Saturday evening.

Linfield have already clinched the title and will be presented with the Gibson Cup at Cliftonville.
