Shane Lowry faces a fight to make the cut on day two at the Irish Open in County Antrim.

He finished Thursday's first round at Galgorm Castle 10 shots off the pace, tied for 98th place.

It was his first time competing in Ireland since winning the Open Championship at Royal Portrush last year.

English duo Jordan Smith and Aaron Rai fired 65s to earn a share of the first-round lead with Dean Burmester.

Dean Burmester was first into the clubhouse on five under.

In Snooker: World champion Ronnie O'Sullivan has been knocked out of the European Masters by Irish teenager Aaron Hill.

O'Sullivan was on course for victory when he got his first century of the season to lead 4-3 in the best-of-nine-frames match.

But 18-year-old Hill, from Cork, levelled and then won the decider with a break of 78 in Milton Keynes.

Earlier in the evening, Mark Allen produced a record-equalling performance to whitewash Ken Doherty.

The 34-year-old Antrim man blasted in four consecutive century breaks in a 5-0 victory.
