Stephen Frail - leaving NI.

Q Radio Sport

Northern Ireland youth team boss Stephen Frail is leaving the international set-up to take over as assistant manager at Dundee United.

The 50-year-old Glaswegian had been in charge of the NI under-17 and under-19 teams.

The UEFA European Under-19 Championship finals had been due to take place in Northern Ireland this month but were postponed due to coronavirus.

One of Frail's under-17 squad, Glentoran's Jamie McDonnell, is also going across the water - he's signed for Championship team Nottingham Forest.

Midfielder McDonnell was being chased by several clubs including Celtic and West Brom.

The 16-year-old has signed a three-year deal with Forest.

Another young Glens star, Charlie Lindsay, recently joined Rangers.

Meanwhile, Warrenpoint Town boss Barry Gray has another new player on board - Steven Ball.

The 22-year-old left sided defender moves north after spells with League of Ireland clubs St Pat's and Cabinteely.

Gray says: “Steven joins us in a bid to kick start his senior career at the top level and is very hungry to get stuck in and make a name for himself.

"He has plenty of quality, athleticism and drive to succeed and we are all quite excited to see what he can bring to the panel this year."

The Point boss has also been telling us more about two of his other recent recruits Colm Carney and Luke Gallagher:
