World War Two grenade made safe after young person took it home from forest near Newtownards

Army bomb experts have removed a suspected World War Two grenade from Bangor.

The local MLA, Alan Chambers, has said the grenade was taken by a "young finder" to his home in Lisnabreen in Bangor.

Police confirmed that the device was made safe in the town.

A police spokesperson also confirmed it was initially found in a forest near Newtownards earlier in the day.
