Hollywood actor Liam Neeson has thrown his weight behind a Christmas charity appeal in Northern Ireland.

The Ballymena man's sent a video message to the Northern Ireland Hospice backing their "jingle all the way" appeal.

A parade is scheduled to take place in towns and cities across the country this year to raise vital funds for the Children's Hospice.

The 'Taken' star has also used some of his well known catch-phrases and whit to try and encourage some Christmas Spirit.

In the video Mr.Neeson says "I'm incredibly proud my home town, Ballymena, is supporting the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice "jingle all the way"  Christmas parade on Saturday 25th November.

"There are a particular set of skills you can use to support Jingle all the way.

"From wearing wacky Christmas jumpers, to hosting your own separate events such as coffee mornings, sponsored walk or run, jingle and jive night at school or work, Quizz night. Even a sponsored leg wax or Christmas raffles. "

Appearing in a festive seasonal jumper the bearded actor continued "Lets show our support for life limited children and their families this Christmas. "

The Hospice has also encouraged other local celebrities to back the campaign, tagging Eamon Holmes and Celtic Football Club in the message.
