Drink drive crash that occured in Omagh in the early hours Sunday morning

by Gráinne Connolly

Police in Omagh have taken to social media to warn people about the dangers of drink driving, following a collision in the town yesterday morning.

They posted an image to the PSNI facebook page (left) which clearly shows the outcome of the crash that was caused by a drink driver.

Speaking after the collision yesterday, a spokesperson for the police said:

"They say a picture paints a thousand words. This is what happens when you consume alcohol and choose to get behind the wheel.

"The driver of this van was involved in a collision in the early hours of the morning in the Omagh area.

"Thankfully nobody was seriously injured or killed. The driver was arrested and found to be over twice the legal limit.

"He will be making an appearance at Omagh Court in the coming weeks for his troubles.

"Our message is clear; Never, ever drink and drive.

"We will be carrying out random breath tests again over the Christmas period. Don't make the same mistake as this driver."
