The first of two public consultation events into gold mining in West Tyrone is to take place tomorrow.
And with mining becoming a divisive topic for many locals - it's now emerged that the police plan to attend the events.
Police say they plan to attend two public consultation events relating to gold mining in the Sperrins.
Dalradian Gold, the firm behind the plans, are hosting the first of those events tomorrow at its site on the Camcosy Road near the village of Rouskey.
Dalradian want to develop a gold mine and processing plant in the area - saying it could create hundreds of jobs.
But, the plans have been bitterly opposed by some local residents - claiming the environmental impact could be huge.
The PSNI say the events have been subject to 'significant interest from anti-mining entities'.
And that their presence at the events tomorrow and on Monday is 'to ensure (that) any protest' against the plans 'are peaceful'.
