The PSNI says if anyone is found to have broken the law during a Republican parade in west Belfast this afternoon it will aim to bring them to justice.

The National Republican Commemoration Committee marched from Divis Street to Miltown Cemetery.

Police have said their response focussed on monitoring and gathering evidence of any offences.

In a statement, PSNI Superintendent Robert Murdie said: "A specific policing plan was put in place this afternoon in west Belfast, (Saturday 31 March) for a parade by The National Republican Commemoration Committee from Divis Street to Milltown Cemetery.

"Our priorities were to keep communities safe, preserve public order, uphold the human rights of all and gather evidence of any wrongdoing.

"Today we took the decision to run an operational response that would focus on monitoring and gathering evidence of any offences. We will review that evidence and where we identify any individuals committing offences, we will seek to bring them to justice.

"I want to be clear that for anyone who engaged in actions that were unlawful, there will be consequences through the criminal justice system."
