Police given extra time to question Lisa Dorrian murder suspects

Police have been given more time to question two people who were arrested in Newtownards yesterday on suspicion of the murder of missing Bangor woman Lisa Dorrian.

The 25 year old went missing after a party at a Caravan park in Ballyhalbert in Co.Down in 2005. 

She's never been found and police launched new searches for her body earlier this week.

Detectives now have an additional 12 hours to question the 49 year old man and 34 year old woman.

Both remain in police custody.

 

 

Detective Superintendent Jason Murphy says new information and a development in technology brought about the fresh lead.

DSI Murphy wouldn’t be drawn on exactly what the new information was but says searches are expected to continue for several days.
