People in the Belfast and Derry-Strabane council areas are hitting out over the decision to axe their joint bid for European Capital of Culture 2023.

The EU Commission has ruled UK cities are not eligible for the honour, with Brexit being blamed. 

In the past European countries outside the Union have been allowed to apply.
