Fermanagh & Omagh Sports Forum has launched its annual Sports Awards for 2018.
The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of athletes and teams from the Fermanagh and Omagh district area during 2018.
The forum is now accepting nominations from members of the public for the following categories:
- Senior Sports Personality (18 years old and over)
- Junior Sports Personality (14 – 18 years old)
- Juvenile Sports Personality (14 years and under)
- Senior Sports Team
- Junior Sports Team
- Coach of the Year
- Disability Sports Coach of the Year
- Service to Sport
- Outstanding Achievement Award
Speaking at the launch of the 2018 Fermanagh and Omagh Sports Forum Sports Awards, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Howard Thornton, said:
“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with Fermanagh & Omagh Sports Forum, is delighted to launch the 2018 Sports Awards.
"The awards afford the Council, as a civic body, with the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the success of our local sporting talent.
"This year has, yet again, been an excellent year for sporting achievement across a wide spectrum of sports both team and individual throughout the district.
"There are certainly plenty of potential nominees in each category. I would encourage the residents of the district to get involved and submit their nominations for the awards.”
Speaking about this year’s Sports Awards, Chairperson of Fermanagh and Omagh Sports Forum, Bernie Fox, said:
“We are calling on all involved in sport across Fermanagh and Omagh to forward their nominees for each of the award categories outlined above.
"The Sports Awards provides a unique opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of those involved in all sport at all amateur levels, and includes the vital roles played by those who coach and volunteer in sport.”
It is not necessary to submit a number of nominations for one candidate as the final shortlist of nominees will be compiled by Fermanagh and Omagh Sports Forum and will not be based on the number of nominations received.
Award winners will be announced at the Fermanagh and Omagh Sports Forum Awards evening at the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen, on Friday 1 March 2019.
Nominations for the Sports Awards close at 5 pm on Friday 4 January 2019.
