Seven men have been arrested after a  27 year old Northern Ireland man was attacked and left fighting for his life in Liverpool.

The victim is believed to have been walking down Bold Street towards Hanover Street with three friends when they were assaulted.

He was found unconscious outside Liverpool Central Station in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Merseyside Police say a 40-year-old man from Wales was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Six other men from South Wales, aged between 33 and 41, have also been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.
