Mickey Harte honoured for exceptional contribution to education and culture

Long running Tyrone manager, Mickey Harte has been honoured by The Open Univsersity.

He was awarded 'Doctor of the University' at a ceremony in Croke Park last week.

Mr Harte was recognised for his exceptional contribution to education and culture over the years. 

Mickey Harte is a former teacher, best known for his management of the Tyrone Senior team.

Over 15 seasons, he has led the team to numerous successes, including 3 All-Ireland titles in 2003, 2005 and 2008. 

More recently, Mr Harte has set up the Michaela Foundation in honour of his late daughter. 

The foundation gives young girls from all backgrounds, the chance to share their experiences and learn about the Irish language and culture, their faith, well-being and creativity.
