Mencap recruitment day in Omagh to support people with learning disabilities

Mencap in Omagh are holding a recruitment day today for new support staff due to the growth in their Supported Living Service in the area. 

They're currently running a campaign for 9 new part time and full time support workers to join the team. 

6 staff at Mencap's Supported Living Service in Omagh are also celebrating a combined total of 130 years working for the learning disability charity, with one member of staff Anne McGirr retiring after 24 years.

Gerard Gonaghy, Mencap Support Worker said: 

"We are all very proud of the work we do in the Supported Living Service directly helping people with a learning disability, who all have the right to live independently in their community and if needed they should be supported to do so, which is our job. 

"It is a lovely job and a great bunch of people to work with. 

"I would recommend anyone to consider a job as a support worker with Mencap."
 

Omagh Supported Living service provides a full range of support for tenants in their housing service and help people find a range of activities that they would like to do in their local community as well as support in their homes. 

The charity works with people to ensure they can access the activities they want at a time they choose. 
 

The recruitment day will be running today at Omagh Community House from 9.00am-2.00pm. 

For anyone interested in being a support worker, this will give them a chance to gain more information about the job and meet members of staff who will be there to provide help. 

There will also be opportunities for interviews throughout the day.
