Man charged after PSNI confronted with post studded with nails

A man has been charged in connection with an incident in Belfast where a PSNI officer was confronted by a man wielding a post studded with nails. 

It happened in the Glenbawn Avenue area on Sunday 17th May. 

The confronted officer subsequently drew his firearm during the incident. 

The 33-year-old suspect is charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, assault on police, obstructing police and disorderly behaviour. 

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday 18th June. 

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.
