Thousands of children across Northern Ireland will receive their 11-plus results today.

Stormont scrapped the tests more than a decade ago but Grammar schools continue to use two selection methods, which were introduced in 2008.

In 2018-19, there were 16,507 entrants in total for the transfer tests.

This figure is up about 8% from 15,319 in 2017-18.

Nine thousand pupils sat the AQE assessement  - while just under eight thousand took the GL assessement.

Ulster Teachers' Union President, Carney Cumper says with more students sitting the exams there's a risk schools may set higher bench marks. 

She also feels children aged 10 and 11 in Primary 7, are too young for these sort of tests:
