Moat Primary School in Lisnaskea will reopen this morning, after it was forced to close yesterday due to a burglary.

Principal Felicity Humphries posted on the school website yesterday to inform parents and pupils:

"It is with much regret that we have taken the step to close the school on Monday 27th November.

"A burglary occurred at the school late on Sunday night.  The staff will seek to make it look as good as new for Tuesday morning, following PSNI and criminal investigative work.

"If you are unable to find child care at such late notice, please send your child to school. Your child will be accommodated in the school HUB until further arrangements are negotiated.  All staff will be in school.

"If you are aware of anything that you feel you should report to the PSNI or to the principal, please do so. We believe this burglary occurred between 9pm and 10:30pm. A very large consignment of ipads were sadly stolen.

"Our intention is to have the school up and running again on Tuesday morning. Thank you for your co-operation. F Humphreys."

As a result of the burglary, approximately 50 iPads were taken from the school which are used for the children's learning on a daily basis and were bought through fundraising.

Principal Humphries has been telling Q Radio about the ordeal:

Local Councillor Victor Warrington has condemned the theft at the Lisnaskea Primary School and has said it's "disgraceful".

"To break in and steal children's learning aids and create significant damage is a disgraceful act of criminality. We want our children to get the best opportunities from their educational experience, instead we have here some of the worst type of actions from people."

Anyone with information on the burglary can contact detectives in Enniskillen on 101, quoting reference number 1356 26/11/16 or anonymously through Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
