Intruders chased off after attempting to tie up man and woman in Holywood burglary

A man and woman have been left badly shaken after intruders attempted to tie them up during a burglary in Holywood. 

Two men entered the property on Church Green at around 7am this morning before binding the one of the occupants. 

The man, aged in his 30s, broke free and chased the perpetrators from the house as they attempted to tie up a woman. 

They made off with a small safe containing items of jewellery.    

A PSNI spokesperson said: "It was reported that shortly after 7am two males entered a house in the area and tied up the male occupant of the house.  The man managed to break free and chased the intruders from the house as they attempted to tie up the female occupant. 

"It is believed they made off with a small safe containing items of jewellery. 

"They are described as being dressed in black and wearing black hats with their faces covered. 

"They made off on foot in the direction of Church Road. 

"The man, aged in his 30s, was not seriously injured but left shaken by the ordeal."

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who was in the vicinity of Church Green or Church Road this morning and who observed two males dressed in black running from Church Green to contact them on 101 quoting reference 325 02/05/20.
