The Western Trust's Sensory Support team (Drumcoo Centre) are working with Action on Hearing loss to deliver an information session tomorrow.

It's aimed at all individuals, regardless of age, who have experienced deafness, tinnitus or hearing loss.

They'll get the chance to hear from Western Trust hearing loss specialists and a range of organisations giving information about the services they provide for people who experience the conditions.

Western Trust Lead for Sensory Services, Martina Dempster said:

“If you find that you struggle to hear conversations in pubs and restaurants or perhaps struggle to hear on the telephone. If you are working you may be finding
that hearing loss is affecting your ability to contribute to meetings, within the office environment or even general conversations with your work colleagues.  Hearing loss can be a source of great frustration and embarrassment when you can’t quite pick up what someone is saying and you have to ask them to repeat.”

She also added that people who hear ringing, whistling or buzzing in their ears or head when there's no external sound, could suffer from tinnitus.

It's a manageable condition which largely doesn't interefere with people's lives, however, for some it can be stressful and affect every aspect of their life.

Martina Dempster is encouraging anyone with the likes of tinnitus or hearing loss conditions, to attend the free event as people are often unaware of the range of services and equipment that is available to them locally.

The free information event will take place at 2 pm tomorrow, in the Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh.
