FODC has highest number of parking tickets again

At the end of last month (August), the Department for Infrastructure released 'The Penalty Charge Notice Statistics' for the second quarter of the year. 

It presents the number of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), also known as parking tickets, issued in Northern Ireland from April to June 2017. 

These tickets are given to vehicles found to be parked in contravention of on-street and off-street parking restrictions, as well as those detected driving in bus lanes and bus-only streets. 

Earlier this year Q Radio reported that Fermanagh and Omagh District Council had received the highest number of PCNs:

For the second quarter the council has once again topped the charts by claiming the most parking tickets in Northern Ireland. 

9,090 PCNs were issued in Northern Ireland for off-street parking; with 1,204 (13%) being given in FODC. 

Derry City and Strabane followed in second with 1,064 tickets this quarter. 

These are in stark contrast to the lowest issue which was 199 PCNs in Antrim and Newtonabbey. 

A breakdown of this quarters statistics showed that Omagh accumulated 706 PCNs for off street parking, while Enniskillen received 498. 

The statistics also showed that for the year so far FODC has been issued 2,388 off-street parking tickets - with Enniskillen claiming 1,084 and Omagh,1,304.
