Police say parishioners should be vigilant

by Stewart Robson

Five cars have been broken into outside churches in the border town of Blacklion.

The PSNI say the incidents happened last Sunday between 10.10 and 10.40am

Thieves made their way across the border with property before discarding it by a roadside near Belcoo and Enniskillen.

Police have appealed for witnesses and have asked parishioners in the area to be alert.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Items were taken from four of the five vehicles. We will be upping our patrols around Places of Worship as a result (these will be coordinated with AGS in border areas) but would urge all parishioners and people who live close to churches to remain vigilant.

"Please report all suspicious activity promptly and please, please don’t leave valuables in vehicles. A small number of people are responsible for a large number of these types of incidents. If you can help with this investigation please contact us on 101 or AGS in Blacklion 00353 719853002."
