The local PCSP were briefed by local officers and health workers on the issue of child sex offences and its prevention last week.

At a meeting last week members of the PCSP received a presentation from PSNI and the Western Trust on sex offences against children.

Members of the local Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) had requested the engagement following recent media reports about the level of child sex offences.

They received a presentation which highlighted what measures can be taken to stop the offences from happening.

The Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh's Police and Community Safety Partnership Board, Councillor Keith Elliott (DUP) commended police and other agencies for the work they do in supporting victims and addressing incidents of child sex offences.

The Enniskillen Ward councillor welcomed the engagement saying that it is essential to highlight the issue within the community.

“All children have a right to grow up in a safe environment and sexual offenses against children is a matter of great concern. All the relevant agencies are to be commended for the work they do in supporting victims and addressing incidents”, he said.
