Police warn local people to be aware of money after arrest in area following reports of fake €50 note.

A forty-three year-old man was arrested in the area of Sion Mills last Friday.

He was detained on suspicion of offences including possessing and tendering counterfeit currency.

That's after reports of a man passing a fake €50 note in the area of the village last Thursday.

He's since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Inspector Tony Moore from the PSNI said: “I would always advise anyone to be aware of the money that is passing through your hands. Be aware that it is possible that money, both Euros and Sterling, can be counterfeit.”
