Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is to carry out an advertising radio campaign in Spring 2018 in the Republic of Ireland (RoI)to attract more visitors and shoppers to the local area.
It's main hook is to draw people in from across the border to take advantage of the weakened value of Sterling at the minute.
A report to the council's Regeneration and Community Committee last month stated:
"The Republic of Ireland (RoI) has been identified as one of our main visitor markets given its proximity, ease of access and the current attractive rate of the Euro V Sterling.
"It is therefore proposed to procure the services of a radio broadcaster to design, produce and broadcast a week long radio advertising campaign in the RoI marketplace in Spring 2018 to raise the profile of the district as a short break destination which will complement the billboard campaign due to be rolled out around the same time."
The same report stated that the campaign will cost in the region of £6,000.
It's also anticipated that the local industry will partner this initiative by offering packages as daily prizes, "therefore offering greater return and enhanced potential for cross selling from this investment."
