Concern has been raised in Enniskillen in regards to the current South West College ( SWC) campus there.

It was confirmed this year, that a new SWC would be built on the site of the old Erne hospital and that construction would be completed by September 2019.

The issue that has come about is that the old building will turn into an eye sore and affect surrounding businesses in Enniskillen.

The campus on Gaol Square is very close to the town centre, on a 4.6 acre site.

As the selling process will begin in early 2019, the Fermanagh Herald reported that local estate agents expressed the need for the correct type of investor.

While they feel the relocation of the campus will benefit local businesses, they also think it could have a negative impact on the area if the old building is left vacant.

Michael Leslie of Smyth Leslie Estate Agents raised how important it is that a prominent landmark is not left empty for a long period of time.

It will attract vandalism and anti-social behaviour to the area, which may send out the wrong message to vistors and people generally passing through the town.
