Co Antrim property scorch damaged in petrol bomb attack

A property has damaged in a petrol bomb attack in Co Antrim. 

It happened at around 10.15pm last night in the Cashel Drive area of Newtownabbey. 

The flat caught fire after the projectile was thrown through the window causing scorch and smoke damage to the kitchen. 

No one was inside at the time. 

A PSNI spokesperson said: "At approximately 10.15pm last night, Sunday, 9 August, police received a report of a flat on fire.  On arrival of police it was established that a petrol bomb had been thrown through a window into the property. 

"Scorch and smoke damage was caused to the kitchen of the property.

"There was no-one in the flat at the time of the incident.

"Police would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has information that could assist police with their enquiries to contact them at Newtownabbey on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 2394 09/08/20."
