The Corick House Hotel and Spa has been fined 10 thousand pounds for releasing untreated sewage into a nearby watercourse.

The Northern Ireland Environment Agency inspected the premises and found that they weren't complying with the consent limits for discharging waste.

Director Andrew Beacom holds a consent to discharge under the Water Order 1999.

This allows their sewage to be released into a waterway under specific conditions.

However, throughout the inspection, it appeared that one of the waste water treatments were not functioning properly.

Waste was filling the chamber but it was releasing untreated water.

This has been posed as a breach of consent conditions, as the water being discharged is polluting in nature and unsuitable for a watercourse to receive.
