7 further covid-19 related deaths and 1,564 new cases confirmed in NI

Seven more people have died in Northern Ireland after contracting covid-19, according to the Department of Health. 

Five of the deaths occurred in the past 24 hours, bringing the department's death toll to 2,258. 

A further 1,564 positive cases of the virus have also been reported since yesterday.

Meanwhile, 392 people are being treated in hospital with coronavirus, 47 of whom are in ICU.

The department has also administered a total of 2,376,682 covid-19 vaccines. 

The 7 day incidence rate in Northern Ireland is currently 533.3 per 100,000 people. 

The area with the highest rate of infection is Fermanagh and Omagh district with 917.4 per 100k, while the area with the lowest is Ards and North Down which recorded 398.2 per 100k.
