A 21-year-old man has been arrested during a anti-terrorism operation in Derry/Londonderry.
Officers conducted a search in the Brandywell area of the city earlier today.
The suspect was taken to Musgrave Police Station where he was quizzed about the activities of the New IRA.
He has since been released but police say the investigation is ongoing.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Terrorism Investigation Unit, supported by District Police in Derry City and Strabane have conducted a search and arrest operation in the Brandywell area of Derry/Londonderry today.
"A 21 year old man was arrested under TACT and has been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite where he is currently being questioned by detectives."
Derry City and Strabane Area Co-ordinator Chief Superintendent Darrin Jones added: “The search and arrest operation today was in relation to an ongoing investigation into the activities of the New IRA and to ensure the public are kept safe.
“A mobile phone and a notebook were seized during the search and the man who was arrested is being questioned in custody.”
