Boy from Brazil sinks Jeffrey and Institute beat odds again to retain Premiership status

Ballymena United crashed to a shock 2-1 home defeat against Warrenpoint Town in the Danske Bank Premiership on Saturday.

It leaves David Jeffrey's second-placed Sky Blues nine points behind leaders Linfield going into the final five fixtures after the split.

Institute beat Coleraine 1-0 at the Brandywell to secure Premiership status for another season.

Aaron Jarvis hit the derby winner in stoppage time. 

 

 

Crusaders had to battle back from 2-0 down to snatch a two-all draw against second from bottom Ards in Bangor.

The north Down club head into the split two points clear of relegation rivals Newry City who lost 1-0 to Glenavon on Saturday night - Andrew Mitchell with the late goal, his 100th in the Premiership.

 

 

The Irish Cup semi-finals are next Saturday with the league resuming on Friday week.
