Woman suffers cut to the face in Portrush assault

A 45 year old woman has suffered a cut to her face during an altercation in Portrush.

It happened in the Links area at around 11.30 last night.

A 27 year old woman  arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, has been released on police bail.

A 25 year old man who was also arrested at the scene has been released on bail.
 

A PSNI spokesperson said:


It was reported that at around 11.30pm an altercation took place between a number of people in the area after they had got out of a taxi in the area.  A 45 year old female sustained a cut to her face after she was assaulted.  A 50 year old male is also reported to have been assaulted but did not sustain any injuries as a result. A 25 year old male, also arrested at the scene, was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Rachel Gardiner is appealing for anyone who was in the area of The Links last night and who witnessed an altercation or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact Detectives in Coleraine on 101 quoting reference 1653 26/01/19.  Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
