Woman (61) among three arrested following drugs raid in north Belfast

Three people including a 64-year-old man and 61-year-old woman have been arrested following a drugs raid in north Belfast. 

Around £7,500 worth of suspected cocaine, class B drugs, cash and stolen and counterfeit goods were recovered from a property yesterday afternoon.      

All three suspects have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Connolly said: “Following a proactive policing operation conducted by officers shortly before 3pm in north Belfast yesterday, a search of a property in the area resulted in a quantity of suspected cocaine seized.

"A small quantity of suspected Class B drugs, a sum of money and a number of both suspected stolen and counterfeit goods.

“Two men aged 64 and 27 years old and a 61 year old woman were arrested on suspicion of various drugs offences at the property. 

They've all since been released on police bail pending further enquiries. 

Sergeant Connolly added: “Police remain fully committed to tackling the scourge of drugs in our communities and we will continue to proactively investigate and carry out searches linked to the drugs trade.

“The very simple reality is that the sale, supply and consumption of these incredibly harmful drugs is doing nothing but ruining lives and lining the pockets of organised criminals.  We are determined to disrupt their activity and anyone involved in the drugs trade.  Anyone tempted to become involved in illegal drugs should be under no illusion; we will seek to identify them, arrest them and place them before the courts.

“I again repeat our appeal to anyone who can help us identify suspects or provide any information about suspected drug dealing in their area to call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can also be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111."
