There are calls for a fire safety probe on houses here to be concluded quickly - and for potentially life-saving recommendations to be fully enforced.

Families fortunately escaped injury when a Christmas Eve blaze destroyed a house and damaged several others at Dundrum in County Down.

It's suspected plastic cladding helped the flames to spread across the estate.

Assembly member Jim Wells says he's alarmed recommendations will only apply to new houses, not the hundreds of similar homes already built across Northern Ireland.

A fire service investigation is taking place and officials will also consider the findings of the Grenfell fire report.
