Vandals have targeted the Peace Flame monument in Derry - Londonderry, smashing the glass casing.

The damage was reported on Wednesday 13th September, however it's thought to have happened days before.

The eternal flame was opened in the city centre in 2013 , at a ceremony attended by Martin Luther King III.

Constable Miller said:

"I would appeal for anyone with any information about this incident to contact Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 855 of 13/09/16. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
