Foyle Search & Rescue (FSR) say they've responded to over 30 separate incidents in and around the River Foyle in the past month.

The Derry-Londonderry-based rescue charity says that of those call-outs a total of two people were rescued from the river itself.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the voluntary organisation outlined the nature of all 33 responses in the month of July.

"Our Duty Teams & Emergency Response Team dealt with a total of 33 Incidents during the month of July," the statement read.

"Two persons lives were saved by being rescued from the River," it added.

FSR also say a dozen people "were removed from the railings or the river's edge".

A further nineteen people - who were in distress or in need - were also dealt with and "immediately removed to a place of safety".

Foyle Search & Rescue, which was set-up in Derry in June of 1993, has volunteers carrying out duties on three nights a week, who are supported by an Emergency Response Team who remain on call 365 days of the year.

FSR say their main aim is the "preservation of life via prevention, intervention and post-vention".

They also regularly conduct patrols and help raise awareness through presentations to various groups "in and outside of our local community".
