Tributes paid to Ben Nevis victim Samuel Crawford

Tributes are being paid to the Northern Ireland man who died while climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland on Tuesday.

He has been named as 28-year-old Samuel Crawford from Newtownards in County Down.

Mr Crawford died after a group of people got into difficulty on the mountain - with two others being taken to hospital.

The Reverend Garth Wilson, from his church Sandown Free Presbyterian in Belfast, says he was about to become a father:

He also took to Facebook to say "he was one of the brightest lights in our congregation in Sandown and we will miss him terribly."

He went on to say Mr Crawford was a "fantastic husband" and that he "would have been the best father".

Mr Crawford was among 24 people who got into difficulty on Ben Nevis on Tuesday.

The other climbers were helped to safety by the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, search and rescue helicopters and a group of soldiers who were climbing the mountain at the time.
