Teenage girl in hospital after being struck by van in Co Down

A teenage girl is being treated in hospital after being hit by a van in Bangor. 

The collision happened just before 5:40pm yesterday evening near a bus stop on Cotton Road, opposite the old primary school.

The condition of the 14-year-old pedestrian is not known.  

The road was closed between Donaghadee and Six Road Ends to allow officers to deal with the collision, but has since reopened.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them. 
 

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision involving a female pedestrian in Bangor yesterday evening (Friday, 23rd October).

"The collision, which was reported just before 5:40pm, occurred on Cotton Road, in the vicinity of the bus stop opposite the old primary school.

 "A teenage girl, aged 14 years old, was injured as a result of the collision, which involved a white Renault van.

"She was taken to hospital where she remains today." 

Inspector Jonathan Francey is urging anyone who witnessed the collision and who was on the road between 5:35pm and 5:40pm when the collision occurred, or who captured what occurred on their dash cam to contact police on 101 and quote reference number 1466 of  23/10/20.
