Preparations are well under way for this years Strabane Summer Fest.

It's a three day event run by Derry City and Strabane District Council; supported by SGN Natural Gas and the Strabane Business Improvement District.

There will be a number of events run across the weekend from music, dance, fun fair and street art in the packed programme of events.

Former Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Counil, Alderman Hilary McClintock said it's designed to appeal to everyone, especially families:

"This is a fun festival that has grown over the years and been enjoyed by not only our local residents but by hundred of visitors that now travel to be part of it."

The Summer Jamm celebrations will kick off with the return of the towns market on Friday 9th June.

There's a wide array of quality products available, including hand knitted children's designs, award winning food producers, arts and crafts, cards and books, antiques and homemade food.

In the evening there will be concerts from top class brass bands in the Alley Theatre.

On Sunday, the day is mainly family orientated with their big country musical festival.

Well known singers such as Tyrone's Cliona Hagan, Johnny Brady and David James will be there.

There will also be a number of side activities for all the family throughout the weekend such as bouncy castles, entertainment etc.

Emma Devine, the council's marketing officer says it's the biggest event to come to Strabane and that large crowds are expected:
