An object discovered in Sion Mills during a security alert was a viable pipe bomb.
Several homes were evacuated in the County Tyrone town yesterday morning.
It's believed the device was left near the home of a former member of the District Policing Partnership.
A controlled explosion was carried out and the remainder of the device was taken for further examination.
In a separate incident yesterday a bomb exploded after falling from a serving police Officer's car in Derry.
The PSNI has not confirmed any link in the attacks.
