Moy/former Tyrone GAA player Sean Cavanagh sustained severe facial injuries during match against Edindork

by Gráinne Connolly

Former Tyrone GAA star, Sean Cavanagh was hospitalised following a club Senior Championship football match at the weekend.

The Moy player sustained several serious facial injuries, in the first half of the match against Edindork on Saturday, and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

An image of Cavanagh began circulating social media yesterday, showing the extent of his injuries.

While it gathered widespread attention and shock from the public on social media, the Moy man said it "could have been much worse" and thanked fans for their well wishes after getting released from Craigavon Area Hospital with a concussion.

Aside from the Tyrone man's injuries, the match also gained negative attention due to the fact, a shocking 20 yellow, one black and 6 red cards were handed out by the Referee.

While Edindork may have won the game, both teams finished with only 12 players.
